Beta Testing Approaches

27 06 2012

AIA is finally preparing to roll-out AU for the first round of BETA testing.  The devlopment team have decided on a date-driven, rather than feature-driven beta schedule.  So each new beta release will have whatever new features have been implemented to-date, until all features are in and release proper can take place.

If you are interested in helping us test AU, please keep an eye out on the Orbiter Forum for a relevant thread in the Addon Development section.

Lightbulbs delivered

20 06 2012

The first in a line of long-awaited lightbulb deliveries finally took place today, with the VLC getting a visit from the technicians.

Not a particularly interesting pic, but another essential step closer to operational capability for Ascension!

Texture and material work

18 06 2012

2 screens showing some texture and material changes/tweaks/trials.  Inc. new glass, inside lights and grass.

Old Airport finds new home

11 06 2012

As part of the Development Acceleration Initiative, it was decided to incorporate the existing WIN airport into the new base.  With this stage complete, Ascension Island comes one step closer to becoming a global travel hub, connecting the Earth with the stars!   Next up, the archaic, but highly necessary, Sea Port Facility.

Corporate Sponsors

10 06 2012

It takes money to make money, and it takes a shit ton of money to go into space…  So AIA is proud to advertise our corporate sponsors and outside investors.

Hangars and bureaucracy

9 06 2012

Work continues apace.  With the last of the hard-top finally laid, the last of the hangars could be erected, bringing the base’s compliment to 20:  3 x Turn-Around, 6 x Small Lease, 3 x Large Lease, 4 x Large Storage, 4 x Auxiliary.  Along with the hangars has come the necessary administration and office buildings and the bureaucrats are moving in.  The two Vertical Launch Complexes have also been built, and Techies are currently running cabling and writing code all across the base to bring the functionality online.  Initial tests are going well and prove the software and hardware to be working as intended.

another day, another step forward

If things continue to go as per the roadmap, we are hoping to have the first beta test release by the end of this month.

Is that a JCB?

7 06 2012

Work started in earnest today after the huge setback which saw development cease on Ascension.

To cut a long story short, the Green-Turtle Protection League are now happy and the JCBs have rolled back onto site.

Expect more updates in the near future, and a beta hopefully within the month.

Redeveloped Hangar Row

23 02 2011

As previously mentioned, regarding the Lease hangars concept, here is a shot showing the new layout for Hangar Row. There are now 3 TA Hangars, 3 Large Lease Hangars and 6 Small Lease Hangars. The area still requires considerable development, but this layout is final.
